They beat US team by a score of 2-0. Team took to ice after the medal ceremony loaded with champagne, beers and cigars.
Teams have been known to celebrate this way  but Girls’ excessive celebrations made the highlights today. Team members wearing their gold medals and uniforms, returned to the ice long after spectators had left Canada Hockey Place. They partied for nearly 30 minutes, drinking beer, smoking cigars and laying stretched. They joked with photographers and cleaning staff. Couple of them tried to start resurfacing machine but then did not pursue it any further.
Hockey Canada issued a statement saying it did not condone such behavior and apologized if their players’ celebrations had offended anyone. ”The members of Team Canada apologize if their on-ice celebrations, after fans had left the building, have offended anyone,” said the statement. ”In the excitement of the moment, the celebration left the confines of our dressing room and shouldn’t have.”

In another devleopment, YuNa Kim built on her last performance to win figure skating gold for South Korea. “Queen” scored 228.56 points and shattered her previous world record by more than 18 points.

Just 19 years of age, she was extraordinary in her moves, managing to nail difficult triple-triple jumps, all while demonstrating the sly personality of a Bond girl.
Kim, reigning world champion, has won all tournaments except one in last 2 years was all favorite for this year Olympics. In the make up of this year Olympics it looked like it will be a single-horse race but Asada Mao, Japanese skater, rose to task beautifully. Her soaring triple axle jump was right on but her lead lasted only 10 mins. Kim outperformed Mao by her artistic and technical skating skills. In her post game media conference, Kim mentioned what was going through her mind: ”It’s very difficult not to be aware of [Ms. Asada's] scores,” Ms. Kim said. “But I do have a lot of experience and I was not affected by her performance.”
They will be up against each other again on Thursday with Mao trying to cover up 5 point deficit. I am surely gonna tune in to watch this battle. An earlier performance by Kim to whet your appetite.

Winter Olympics has been in news for couple of unconventional reasons for last couple of days. First it was curious case of Scotty Lago, who was kicked out of Canada after he was filmed taking a bong hit. According to people close to Lago, the USSA in an effort to avoid USOC intervention, came to him with two options: either leave for  home and play the necessary politics, or go through a trial process and risk getting sacked forever from International events. He chose the former one and left quietly. Though, he tried to preemptively cool down the situation by issuing an apology to the USSA on Friday morning. He apologized for the lapse in judgment and said he was grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Olympics. It appears it was not enough. [source]

And now it is the ridged helmet of Amy Williams, Skeleton racer from Great Britain. This is first gold medal for GB in Winter Olympics. She won the race by margin of 0.30 secs, which is like centuries from Skeleton’s standards. USA and Canada officially lodged complaints against the racer but they were shot down by FIBT, which ruled that the aerodynamic ridges were an integral part of Williams’ helmet.  Though they sound more like grape sours than anything else. [source]
