Kate Winslet has split from her husband Sam Mendes. Director Sam Mendes and Kate Winslet were together for last seven years. They have a son Joe together, he is 6 years old. The news took celebrity watchers by surprise as there were no rumors of tensions between the couple until this announcement.
Kate and Mendes worked together in Revolutionary Road together last year. She praised his work and said, “We’re just there for each other”. But then 8 months is a long time, lot of things can happen. Winslet won critical praise and a Golden Globe for her role in “Revolutionary Road” in 2008. Interestingle, movie was a heart-wrenching story of a failed marriage.
Official statement of separation that was issued by lawyers for the couple goes like this: “Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. This was second marriage for Winslet, 34. She was divorced from her first husband, assistant director Jim Threapleton in 2001, after three years. She had a daughter Mia, 9, from her first marriage. Both of them, Kate and Sam, have won Oscars: Kate for her role in “The Reader” and Mendes as a director for 1999 movie debut “American Beauty”.
